Nicolaas Matthys Walters,  borne on 12  Desember 1950 in Parow, matriculated in 1968 at the High School  Strand. He studied further at the  University of Stellenbosch and obtained a Masters in Physics  in 1974. Nicolaas obtained his Doctorate 1986 and also completed his masters in business administration in 1993. His research career ranged  from lecturer and researcher at the  Faculty of Health at the  University of Stellenbosch, researcher and marketing manager at the CSIR up to  executive director of the Medical Research Council ( MRC).  He is currently a director and strategy consultant of the  Strategy Institute of South Africa. 

Nicolaas is a proud ninth generation Walters. His progenitor (Stamvader), Samuel Walters,  arrived in 1695 as a soldier in the service of the VOC.

Nicolaas served on the board of the Western Cape Branch of the  Genealogical Society of South Africa (GSSA) and  is also active in many family history and other genealogy projects. He is responsible for maintaining the Durbanville Heritage Society website and have published extensively on the history of the old VOC wine farms. Nicolaas also serves on the VOC Foundation committee.

My wonderfull children: Nicolas and Dorette Walters. Nicolas, a tenth generation Walters, proudly carries the name of  founder Samuel Walters second son.
